YI YOUNG KIM

Yi Young Kim is a South Korean artist working sculpturally in ceramics. Her practice is motivated by a responsive observation of individual relationships with society. She utilizes ‘vessels’, iconic symbols of humans in her work to display the subtleties of life and how life is a stack of numerous individual choices. She explores different shapes of vessels and ‘inside’ the vessels. She received her BFA in Ceramics at Dankook University in 2020 and currently pursuing her MFA in Ceramics at the Rhode Island School of Design (2023). Yi Young Kim has been the recipient of the Hyundai Motor group Research Fellowship majoring in ceramic materials.
